Babbling About The ONE Thing People who know me know that I am embarking on a “ONE Thing” journey. What this means is that I want to slow down. I want to find ONE thing that I can concentrate my efforts on and do with intention and finesse. When I was young, I could burn the candle at both ends and still get up early the next day and do it again, all day long. Now, I am 66 years old, and the candle only burns at one end. When the candle goes out, I either take a nap or go to bed for the evening. Nevertheless, at the end of each day, I look at my accomplishments. I am a simple person, and I do not have many things I want to accomplish at the end of each day. But there are at least three things I want to achieve before going to sleep each night. Before retiring, I ask myself these three questions.
People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Isn’t that the truth! Who Am I? Today, I am that lady who does many things, and I am speaking from the point of view of a person striving to be less complicated. I feel that fine-tuning the stuff I do will fine-tune my identity. So far, I have narrowed my interests down to two things – real estate and writing. Eventually, I plan to narrow my interests down to ONE thing. There is no need to roll the drums now because these two things hold my interest, like a monkey with a banana. Try to snatch either one of them out of my hand right now, and you might see a woman struggling hard to get it back. In real life, we need to be who we say we are. We need to determine what we believe and then live as an example of that determination so that you and the people who interact with you can be symbiotic and comfortable with you. Say what you mean and mean what you say. I like the bible verse in Matthew 5:37 (Holman Christian Standard Bible) But let your word ‘yes be ‘yes, and your no be ‘no.’ Anything more than this is from the evil one. Be Who You Are Stand up! Be the person you are meant to be. I am now standing on my soapbox, and I present this concept from a Christian perspective. If you believe in God, then you know what I know. And, you know this without a doubt that you are in this world for a reason. I am telling you the truth. God has a purpose for you. Please seek God in all that you do. He will see you through everything. Seek Him, our Savior, and He will guide you to be your true self. You may not get the answer today or tomorrow, but you will receive a response sometime in your life. Read what is said in Proverbs 3:5-6 (English Standard Version) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Who Are You? Of course, you don’t have to answer that question out loud. The answer is between you and whoever you want to know. If you already know who you are, I am a little bit envious of you. It took me sixty years to find out who I am. I suspect I knew when I was young, but I didn't realize it then, if that makes any sense

Bill, I am 66 years old and still searching. My problem is that there are so many things that capture my attention, it's difficult to settle on one thing. But settle, I must, because I'm getting older and more tired at the end of the day. I realize, I just can't do it all like I did in the past.

I really love this post. I'm not sure I have yet come to the realization that I can only concentrate on one thing. I still try to multi-task, but it usually turns out horrible wrong. :) As far as knowing who I am, I need to work on that one. I think a long hike, or longer bike ride, might give me the opportunity to delve into Billy Boy.
